While our longest serving employee in Indonesia has been with the company for over 37 years, our contributions and dedication to Southeast Asia’s largest infrastructure market have been recognised by the local industry community. For example, through the holding of prominent leadership roles at the Foreign Consultant Affiliation Department of the Ikatan Nasional Konsultan Indonesia (INKINDO), the national-level professional body of engineering consulting firms in Indonesia with 7,000 corporate members, and the advisory body of Masyarakat Transportasi Indonesia (MTI), and the national Indonesia Transport Society.
This recognition reflects Egis’ longstanding dedication as individual employees and as a team to delivering creative and durable projects in market sectors including road, rail and urban transit, energy, sustainable urban development and buildings, and aviation infrastructure across the country’s islands, urban centres and rural communities, promoting balanced economic development and social progress.
Our recent key projects in Indonesia include the system integration of Palembang LRT (2017 – 2019), the first LRT project successfully delivered in Indonesia for the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta; and the supervision and detailed design of three sections of the Pekanbaru – Dumai Toll Road, one of our 15 contracts awarded since 2016 on the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road, a 3,000 km long highway network under development. Despite the market downturn amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, our buildings team won a PMCM contract for the Bank of Indonesia Karawang campus in 2021 (our first success in building PMCM) to deliver a complex money printing campus with a data center, and, elsewhere, quantity surveying services for three international airports.
Indonesia is a market in which Egis has partnered with sovereign development funds and multinational financing organisations. These include the French Development Agency (AFD), the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank. Projects cover a wide range of infrastructure development and international aid projects with Egis providing technical assistance in areas including transportation network feasibility studies, post-tsunami and earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation, sustainable and water sensitive urban development and community revitalisation.
