Egis has been awarded a contract by the Samoa Airport Authority (SAA) to finalize the design and specifications for navigational aid equipment. This project includes providing procurement assistance and supervising the installation, operationalization, and associated civil works.
Funded by the World Bank, the Government of Samoa is implementing the Samoa Aviation and Roads Investment Project (SARIP) to enhance the climate resilience and safety of the Samoa’s aviation and road sectors. This initiative also aims to enable a prompt and effective response in the event of an eligible crisis or emergency.
Aviation plays a crucial economic and social role in Samoa's development, with Faleolo International Airport serving as a key gateway for economic and tourism activities between Samoa and the global community. The replacement of aging navigational aid equipment—such as the Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Doppler Very-High-Frequency Omnidirectional Radio Range (DVOR)—is essential for improving the efficiency and safety of aircraft operations at the airport.
This collaboration combines Egis' international expertise in similar projects with our local partner, PPG Consultant, which has a recognized track record in aviation infrastructure consultancy in Samoa and American Samoa. Expected to be completed over a five-year period, this initiative represents significant support from Egis to the Samoa Airport Authority, underscoring Egis's growing presence in the region.
